A bit about the Team:

The purpose of the Creative Technology team is to take current creative work to the next level.  This will involve concepting, designing and implementing campaigns that push the boundaries of existing Commercial and Marketing output by making them more engaging, interactive & shareable across all devices and platforms, globally. This team needs to be at the forefront of technological innovation, creating experiences that will delight and engage the customer and make our client famous. Ultimately, we want to be known for ground breaking campaigns – this team will be central to realising this vision.

Central to this role is creating a vision for the Creative Technology department, which will inspire both the team as well as the wider business. Furthermore, the successful candidate will work side by side with the Marketing, Editorial and Creative & Commercial teams to create world-class campaigns that resonate with the company’s’ core twenty-something customer.

The Role:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • To inspire & lead the Creative Technology team, establishing the team as a central creative function within the wider Marketing department
  • Ensure that all Marketing & Commercial campaigns are interactive, innovative and platform agnostic
  • To keep abreast of new developments in the creative technology and digital design fields and be constantly thinking about how our client can use new technology to create the most exciting, forward thinking campaigns in the market
  • Understand creative vision of ASOS company  – as set out by the Head of Creative –  and ensure all Commercial & Marketing work is in line with this vision
  • To consistently bring best practice re innovation to bear on all Commercial & Marketing projects, externally and internally making the team famous
  • Help Commercial team take projects to a global stage, coordinating internally where necessary
  • Be the face of the Creative Technology team at external client & agency meetings
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with editorial, creative, IT & UX departments
  • Manage workloads and career progression for direct line reports: Commercial Creative Manager, (who in turn manages Web Developer and Web Designer) and Senior Creative Technologist, Creative Technologist and Marketing Creative Technical Lead (who manages the creative developers)
  • Own training and development plans for Creative Technology team
  • Manage and forecast workload / resource issues to Head of Commercial and Head of EditorialSkills and experience you will need:  

    Key Technical Knowledge 

  • Ability to design for web and robust knowledge of web best practice
  • Excellent understanding and experience in leading team of technical creative and developers
  • Fully conversant in Adobe CS5 (InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop
  • Experience of designing for a daily publishing platform online/CMS
  • User-centered design and the process involved (Wireframes, User Journeys, Sitemaps, Prototypes)
  • Develop a visual vocabulary of site elements and styles that will reinforce the brand
  • Mac/PC literate
  • A firm understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Ajax, jQuery, Flash
  • Commercial, design and functionality partnership
  • Able to design wireframes with technical annotations

  • High levels of digital literacy are mandatory as is a sound print knowledge.
