Key Responsibilities

As an Editorial Content Manager, you will be managing a small team of copy-writers and external freelancers when required, so experience managing people and not just task prioritisation is essential to successfully lead and grow the team in the future.

You will be an exceptional writer and editing will be one of your key strengths. You will have an understanding of search engine optimisation and will be able to feed into SEO content strategies as well as wider content marketing strategies.

Understanding the effectiveness of content is just as important as writing engaging content, so the person we are looking for will have experience in using analytics and social platforms to measure content and obtain audience insights.

Role Overview

  • Support Content Strategist to develop editorial content strategies across a range of international and UK clients in partnership with the SEO team & wider content marketing team
  • Confidently challenge briefs and support Content Strategist to present plans & strategies to clients
  • Manage production of high-quality copy (news stories, blogs and other forms of online content) at speed and to tight deadline
  • Write, edit and proof read original web content for high profile clients
  • Manage two copy writers and liaise with team on a daily basis to discuss projects and prioritise tasks
  • Support team to carry out content audits & in-depth research as required
  • Develop team’s content writing skills and ensure quality of execution (keyword density for SEO, accuracy of grammar and punctuation, etc.)
  • Assist in establishing editorial schedules and contributing to development of in-house style guidelines; ensuring that copy is produced according to said guidelines
  • Clearly communicate with all client stakeholders in a timely manner to ensure deadlines are met
  • Support Senior management with identifying growth opportunities & selling in to clients
  • Ensure all internal stakeholders involved in your accounts have a solid working relationship with you and see you as a key contact for editorial content production
  • Manage day to day relationship with client and all third parties/freelancers regarding editorial requirements
  • Deliver against clients overall marketing objectives & ensure their content strategy is aligned with over-arching media strategy & other channels
  • Project manage all campaign schedules to ensure activity is delivered on time, within budget & as per clients requirements
  • Confidently use analytics & research tools to analyse effectiveness of content & obtain audience insights to inform strategy

Skills & Experience:

  • Excellent writing skills in English and strong attention to detail
  • An ability to manage a small team with good communication skills
  • Good project management skills
  • Experience of writing content for a variety of industries, formats & styles
  • Strong editing and proof reading skills
  • A creative mind that thinks outside the box
  • The ability to deliver within short time frames and meet tight deadlines – effective time keeping and time management
  • Strong computer literacy, with awareness of blogging and social media






  • Understanding of search engine optimisation, especially on-site


  • Experience with various content management systems

Desired Knowledge & Experience:

  • Knowledge of digital marketing


  • Good knowledge of music, theatre and/or sports


  • Language skills such as German, French, Dutch, Italian


  • A good eye for design


  • Working knowledge of HTML
