At its core the purpose of the Senior Planning Manager role is to:

•       Support the BD in planning and account handling clients
•       Specifically to work across two key agency clients:
•       Managing 3 brands within the umbrella portfolio, developing communications strategies and campaigns
•       Developing communications strategies and managing campaigns
•       Work collectively and collaboratively with planning and implementation teams to deliver the client and their client business objectives and financial targets
•       Working across an integrated multi-agency team to provide solutions and recommendations to a variety of budget levels
•       Have a good knowledge base of the company products and services as well as client business trends to deliver innovative, ambitious  ‘on-brief’ client planning solutions
•       Help clients understand the new communication landscape and think beyond traditional media solutions
•       Where appropriate account lead on smaller clients/projects.

Client Description
Key Accountabilities

Commercial Edge

•       Understand fee structures and commercial terms for media used in client contract
•       Use knowledge of the company and services to support team to deliver innovative and creative solutions to client briefs
•       Work with BD to continuously review plans to look at how things could be done more efficiently to drive greater margin and value
•       Manage team to deliver KPI’s eg service PRF and accurately track costs
•       Contribute innovative, fresh ideas for relevant plans  – know internal and external factors affecting the client’s business
Strategic Focus

•       Manage team to keep knowledge at the forefront of current and future industry thinking
•       Contribute thinking to shape strategic comms plans

External Relationship Management
•       Connect credibly with client and industry stakeholders at brand manager/senior brand manager/Marketing Director level
•       Co-ordinate team to build strong relationships to deliver brilliant plans, service and ‘keep client smiling’
•       Be a trusted expert on media solutions
•       Know and understand the client, their business/brands ,their customers, their economic environment, industry, target customer and their competitors
•       Work collaboratively within the multi-agency team looking after the client and the respective clients

Delivering Excellence

•       Support BD in delivering outstanding client service through management of comms plans
•       Work with BD to interrogate client brief to ensure clarity on objectives and challenges
•       Collaborate with BD to implement outstanding Integrated Comms Planning process
•       Present  confidently and with impact and expertise
•       Be the ‘gatekeeper’ for quality control and be the client’s first port of call on day to day queries, questions and plan progress
•       Project manage team to deliver excellent execution  of clients comms plans:
•       Manage budgets and timelines
•       Connect with internal specialists  to provide them with the right brief and negotiate  timelines, resource allocation and deliverables
•       Manage client meeting content – organise regular update meetings/ status reports on strategy and comms plan where necessary
•       Provide external stakeholders with accurate and relevant plan details
•       Coordinate  invoicing and payment process as per contract and terms agreed
•       Know how to utilise key planning tools – eg TGI, DDS, etc
•       Manage exec /grad to compile data requests.  Analyse information to provide BD with key insights eg competitor strategy, how their customers consume media, target measurements etc.

Mobilisation

•       Take personal responsibility for own development, learning  and personal objectives –  proactively seeking out new learning opportunities to drive performance in role
•       Understand and ‘live’  company values and behaviours supporting team to work passionately and effectively for company and the client
•       Manage self and team to develop positive relationships across clients, partner agencies and media owners
•       Develop and motivate execs and grads:
•       Drive their training on relevant internal and external tools and systems
•       Collaborate with BD to set smart, ambitious PO’S and career development plans
•       Hold performance reviews and provide frequent, open and honest feedback to drive performance  and develop talent
•       Deliver relevant ‘on the job’ training to drive collective team knowledge and expertise
